This is the Sunset on September 12, 2008. On this day Galveston island was struck by Hurricane Ike, destroying numerous homes, and disrupting many lives and liveliehoods... after a day of seeing the destruction, rescuing survivors, seeing our own homes destroyed we returned to our shelter. Knowing we would soon be calling loved ones and passing on bad news, this sunset was a Godsend. It gave me hope in the middle of all the destruction, that all would be right again.
I shoot what catches my eye and enjoy sharing it. After September 2008 I realized that Galveston had lost a lot to time and nature. I decided to spend time capturing images of my city. Galveston has so many facets, capturing them all is impossible. It's a great city and I would like to share it with all. www.galveston-boi.net www.artevolution-galveston.com/featured-artist/boi-images/ www.facebook.com/johnsphotos All images Copyright BOI Images, John Collins

Do you have any pictures of Port Bolivar? I am writing a story about friends vacationing there and a beautiful visual would be perfect.
John Collins replied:

This photo is stunning. There is hope...
John Collins replied:
Thank You. Yes, there is. Update: Galveston has returned little by little. Some folks have not returned, some are new arrivals. We're going to be fine, hurricanes are a way of life on the Gulf Coast.
