Artist's Description

Galveston Island, Texas This hotel was built in 1910, at a cost of 1 million dolloars, as Galveston rebuilt after the 1900 storm which leveled the island and killed up to 6000 people. She was conceived and born as a symbol of the Island Spirit, "you can't keep us down. We will restore, rebuild and thrive". Galveston did just that.
Presidents have stayed here, Hollywood stars have stayed and married here. She is a symbol of Galveston's resilience and former Grandeur as the Wall Street of the Southwest.

About John Collins

John Collins

I shoot what catches my eye and enjoy sharing it. After September 2008 I realized that Galveston had lost a lot to time and nature. I decided to spend time capturing images of my city. Galveston has so many facets, capturing them all is impossible. It's a great city and I would like to share it with all. www.galveston-boi.net www.artevolution-galveston.com/featured-artist/boi-images/ www.facebook.com/johnsphotos All images Copyright BOI Images, John Collins
